Greta Tuotanto is a music theatre led by Reetta Ristimäki, which produces music theatre and opera performances year-round and is the host of the Helsinki Opera Summer Festival.
Greta Tuotanno has 2-4 premieres per year and focuses on historical and social themes in its productions. Most of the works are world premieres, made in collaboration with Finnish composers and writers. Greta Tuotanno does not have a permanent performance space, but most of the stage works and concerts in the program are planned for tours and are seen at festivals, cultural venues, concert halls, theater stages and other venues in different parts of Finland and abroad.
Greta Tuotanto (founded in 2015) employs approximately 100 freelance professionals in its works annually and, on average, gathers approximately 12,000 spectators per year with its 80 performances. In addition, the new Helsinki Opera Summer festival, which focuses on experimental music theatre and opera, will see approximately 20 performances and gather an average of 3,000 spectators per year. Greta Tuotanto's annual budget is approximately €500,000. Its operations are financed by a government grant and an operating grant from the City of Helsinki starting in 2025. Other production and project support is also being sought.
Greta Tuotanno has an office in the Aleksanteri Theatre and a costume and props warehouse.
